Choose Lake Muskoka

The largest of Muskoka’s “Big Three” lakes, Lake Muskoka is almost double the size of Lake Joseph and Lake Rosseau. Its shoreline boasts the communities of Port Carling, Bala, Torrance, Walker’s Point, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Milford Bay. Located an hour and a half north of Toronto, or 45 minutes by plane, one can see why it’s such a popular cottaging destination.

Enjoy an afternoon or dinner cruise on the RMS Segwun or Wenonah II with the Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre. Dock your boat in Bala, Port Carling, Gravenhurst, or Bracebridge, and spend the day touring the shops, taking lunch at one of their fine eateries, and replenishing your supplies before heading home.

Lake Muskoka offers boat access to some of Muskoka’s most historic features, including the storybook island cottages in the Beaumaris region, typified by their mullioned windows, cedar shakes, and bell roofs. Hikers and other outdoor adventurers will enjoy easy water access to Hardy Lake Provincial Park and the Walker’s Point Lookout Trail, while golfers may opt to partake of a round at one of the celebrated courses nearby.

The area from Stephens Bay to Lawland Heights provides a wide-open expanse of lake, ideal for the cottager who covets a massive open-water view, and still convenient to amenities on either shore. Rich with islands small and large, Lake Muskoka provides spectacular views for cottagers and recreational boaters.

Properties along the Muskoka River deliver access to the same delightful pastimes at a more affordable price point.
